Academic Innovation
Lumen Christi Academies are undertaking a comprehensive renewal of academic programs to meet the highest standards of 21st century education. Blended learning strategies incorporate state of the art software which allows students to learn at their own pace and level. Utilizing small group instruction and individual practice, teachers are able to quickly measure learning performance and better focus their efforts for each child. STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) courses are featured prominently in a renewed the school’s curriculum.
Like all LCA schools, St. Catherine of Siena prioritizes continuous improvement and professional development for our teachers and principals. Each teaching professional will have a personal plan to be executed on an annual basis. Improvements will come in the form of greater content knowledge, new teaching techniques, higher credentials, and broader expertise across disciplines and grade-level capabilities.
St. Catherine of Siena, A Lumen Christi Academy
St. Catherine of Siena offers a faith-based program dedicated to educating the whole child. Deeply anchored in a loving, safe, and inclusive environment, every LCA school is dedicated to teaching a rigorous, 21st-century curriculum. The curriculum is also supplemented with an enriching program of social and emotional learning, which enables each child to listen, share, collaborate, and communicate with their fellow classmates. The Christ Light is alive because of the mutual respect, kindness, and appreciation practiced in every classroom at St. Catherine of Siena.
Catholic Identity
All LCA schools, some dating back to the 19th century, have long been offering a faith-based learning environment. Catholic faith principles like love, charity, and hope form the foundation for every LCA school.
St. Catherine of Siena continues to be a beacon of light in the community of Martinez. We commit to four faith-based principles: Service Towards Others, Academic Learners, Involved Christians, and Loving One Another. Students attend mass twice a week, participate in the church choir, join faith families, attend grade-level retreats, and serve the surrounding community. St. Catherine of Siena School recently celebrated 70 years of Catholic Education, located at the heart of downtown Martinez since 1949.
On the Horizon
St. Catherine of Siena continues to expand its offerings in art, music and physical education. Our enrichment program also offers the Junior High Elective Program, where students study a foreign language and drama. Joint programs with other LCA schools will leverage the strengths of the network to offer many new experiences for our young students.
